Terrible Movies

Terrible movies come in all forms.  Each of us has encountered one at least once in our lives, and the latest terrible movie for me was: Paranormal Activity 3.

The first movie didn't seem all that interesting or scary to begin with, yet people poured into theaters when the sequel came out.  The same happened when the third came out.

To start off, the way the movies are formed is completely pointless.  The first movie follows Katie Featherson, and the apparent haunting in the house she lives in with her husband.  The second talks more about her sister Kristi, and the haunting going on with her, and the third talks about Kristi and Katie's childhood.

The point I'm trying to make is that the format of these movies basically ruins the entire franchise.  Katie dies in the first movie, and the rest of the movies are basically flashbacks of her life.  We know that she's going to eventually die, and we know that those around her are going to die as well.  This makes the story line less appealing.

Second, in every movie, the "man of the house" sets up cameras around the house to track the ghosts' activities.     This is tedious, and partly unrealistic.  Not every family would have that same situation.

Third, the overall plot to the movie was terrible.  The movie never truly explained why the demons were there, what they wanted, or why they wanted Katie's family specifically.  At the end of the movie, women in dark cloaks showed up, killed Katie's parents, and left Katie and Kristi with their grandmother.  The most we can decipher from this is that the women must have once been part of a cult.

Finally, the special effects were not that good.  When the babysitter walks upstairs to check on Katie and Kristi while they are sleeping, she supposedly gets hit in the face.  The problem is, it doesn't even look like she got hit.  In fact, it's hard to even tell what happened in the first place until they explained it later on.

I do hope that they don't plan on making any more Paranormal Activity movies.
